Guest Designing at the Twofer Challenge!!

Hey everyone - Darnell chose Mac Mable (conventional) and me (non-conventional) as winners for our June Twofer Challenge cards (see Mac Mable's amazing sea creatures here and my crazy Christmas tree and fish here). Now we're both Guest Designers for August's Twofer with the theme of Sun/Moon - how great is that?!!

Here's my Twofer:

I decided to go with the sun because I have a lot of those images and it's summer - loads of sunshine to inspire me!! My sun stamp in common comes from a 2010 Hero Arts clear set. I had to pull out this cutie (also has the clothes & clothespins) because it really makes me smile every time I flip through my stamp sets!! Literally, I've been thinking I should make something with that set & the time arrived!! Here's a closer look at each with a supply list:

Supplies: Paper - DCWV black A2 card; Lawn Fawn Watercolor;
kraft from an envelope; Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 110lb
Stamps - Hero Arts CL439 A Kiss From the Sun &
CL438 Let's Chill (both retired)
Dies - My Favorite Things Blueprints (retired);
Other - Copic Markers; foam tape

Gloomy day when this was taken so the white reads a bit grey - sorry! You may recognize the beach elements from my Day 6 of the 30 Day Coloring Challenge (now over). I bought the layered birthday back in July when I grabbed a few other Pink & Main goodies - love it! As I was cutting it for the first time, it occurred to me that it would make a fun anchor for my beach elements - what do you think?

I recently got the new banner alpha set from HA and suddenly thought it would be cute to put the banners spelling HAPPY among the hanging clothes. Funny thing, when I tested the dies I cut a bunch to spell HELLO!!! So my card ended up being a hello one; I inlaid the letters into the flags.

Supplies: Paper - Hero Arts pool (retired); various Lawn Fawn &
BoBunny prints; Poptone Black; Michael's green
Stamps - Hero Arts CL439 A Kiss From the Sun &
CL142 Thank You Messages (both retired);
Cornish Heritage Farms Denim Backgrounder (retired)
Other - Copic markers; foam tape; Doodlebug string

I wanted a sunny card to send to my friend Heather (Stamping and Stitching). Thought she'd get a kick out of the clothes on the line - I experienced this at her house a year ago when I went to Ireland. Just had to wash my favorite jean capris before I went to England and Heather was gracious enough to help. I just had no clue how different their machines were from mine at home!

In the stamp set, the words I stamped around the sun actually circle a pair of flip-flops. I just did a bit of surgery and snipped the flip-flops out of the center, stamped the words and put them back around the flip-flops. No worries. Then I stamped the sun in the center and die cut it all with a circle die. Gave it a totally different look from the sun on card one. The bitty flower on the aqua T-shirt came from the Thank You stamp set. And yes, I fussy cut those teensy clothespins!!

And now, a threefer!!

Decided to create patterned paper with the sun outline then color just one. It's been done but it's so fun! Sentiment is from an old Technique Tuesday set "Bring on the Sun"; stamped and white embossed. Inside verse is from the same set " - a James Matthew Barrie quote that says "Those who bring sunshine to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves." Sent this one to my sister who's helping my parents for the summer.

So, have I inspired you to play along? You have until August 24th to link up here. Just remember to use  the sun/moon theme and follow the rules re: a common stamp/die/stencil, distinctly different designs, and two different occasion! Thanks to the delightful Darnell & her team for a fun challenge and for having me as a Guest Designer this month. And again big congrats to the awesome Mac Mable on her GD slot too!!

Have a wonderful day and thanks for visiting me!!

Three FABULOUS cards Linda!! We're so pleased to have you joining us this month as GD and you've totally rocked the challenge with all 3 of your wonderful cards! Love, LOVE the birthday card and the sweet little scene you've created using the "Happy Birthday" as the anchor! And your slimline card is AWESOME! Love the paper pieced clothes and great job on the fussy cut clothes pins and surgically taking out the flip flops for the sentiment in the sunshine! And your threefer is amazing with all the sunshine images but only one colored in...love it!! Thanks so much for joining us this month and inspiring all our players at The Twofer Challenge!! Hugs. :0)

Thank you for being one of our Guest Designers this month, Linda! How excellent that you are showing our players that's it not only possible to make two different designs using the same stamp, you can make THREE different designs. So, see, they have no excuses! And each one of your threefers is just fabulous with lots and lots of eye candy to enjoy! I love the giant birthday greeting as a landing spot for your party bird and drinkie poo on your tropical delight (which I think could find other places to link up!) design and your clothes line hello card could not be any cuter! Great attention to detail with the words wrapping around the sun and fussy-cutting those itty bitty clothespins! Finally, your sunny sunshine DSP is brilliant with only one of the suns in the, um, sunlight!! Keep well! Hugs, Darnell

Linda, these are fabulous! Not only a Twofer, but a 'threefer!!' And all your cards are wonderful. LOVE that beachy scene. One of these days, we'll get to go sit on the beach again with family and friends, and I'll be reminded of your sweet birthday card. Love the little extras you've added, too. Cute clothesline card! What a fun idea, and a great way to say 'hello!' Love that there are even itty bitty clothespins! This makes me smile! Aren't sisters wonderful? And I'll bet she loved getting this card. The background you've created with that little sun looks amazing, and I love the one little highlighted sun. Thank you so much for Guest Designing for us this month at Twofer! Stay safe. Bev

I love your story and special card for your friend to say hello! You are so right, the sun looks very different on this card. I love your guest designer cards. Congratulations and thanks for sharing these fun cards. The bird with his sunglasses is so cute and I love the clothesline of clothes. Reminds me when we hung the whole laundry out and how stiff the towels and sheets were!

Hello Linda and thank you for your sweet comment on my "Moon" Twofers.
Many Congratulations on your Guest Designer at Twofer, this is a super fun challenge!!
I love, love your cards, I wish I could be with your little birdie at the beach with one of those delicious cool drinks in my hand.
Your second card brought sweet memories of my daughters when they were babies and how I loved to hang their clothes on the back yard to dry, they smell like sunshine when I brought them inside.
Thank you again for visiting.
Stay healthy and safe.
Hugs,
Maria Rodriguez.
