Tim Holtz Holiday Collage Christmas in July!

Hi all - earlier today I enjoyed Tim Holtz's live holiday class joint with Simon Says Stamp Holiday Collage Christmas in July (free on YouTube)! I purchased the class kit but anyone can watch the video & learn from Tim. Heidi from SSS created her projects right alongside Tim which was very fun. We made four projects in about 3 hours, including intro & chit chat, all making our own choices.

While the kit is sold out, Simon Says Stamp carries stand-along products at the link above. The candles, I believe Tim said, are Halloween but they work fine for Christmas too! The glittery mix we used will be coming out for purchase later this year in a bigger jar than we received in the kit. Here's some individual photos:

The first project was a card using ephemera, layers and a paper doll. We made a shaker out of a frame of our choice, filled with the snowflake glitter:

Next we made a couple tags. The one at right is doubled up with the top tag layer die cut with slots. We filled the slots with stuff, including a gift card on hand. The tag at left has a collaged background:

Heidi's fave project was the decor piece; we had some choices here but I did my wreath as Tim showed (took two artificial pine sprigs & twist together then formed a circle):

All in all, a very fun way to spend three hours! Plus I have loads more product to use. Here's a quick photo of my organization of the different packages of stuff (mainly shoeboxes). Tim wanted us to be able to flip through the stuff when choosing what to use:

The Collector Club tree is new this year but only two ornaments came with it. I filled the rest with older ornaments, including one of my faves - the doggy in the red wagon. I don't do much on the outside - just a wreath on the door flanked by a snowman & a pot of pines.

Anything but a Card for Poppystamps

Hi all - over at Poppystamps Challenge #123 they're doing anything but a card. A lot of people were doing tags but I decided to try an ornament.

Supplies: Paper - Neenah white; 

Hero Arts glitter; scraps

$1 monogram ornament from Target; Copic markers

I was thinking of different ways to do an ornament. While shopping today, I found some acrylic monogram shaker ornaments in the Target Hot Spot. For just a dollar I figured I could mess it up and not lose a lot of cash. Decided to cover the front and still have the depth of the acrylic shaker to see from the side. 

I cut the snowman bits from scraps and assembled. Some of the scraps were a pale aqua which I used that way, plus I colored some pieces deeper aqua shades with Copics. The pink scarf was from a scrap of watercolor paper that I'd painted pink at some point. 

I die cut an oval and glued it to the ornament front then added a glittery snowbank to the bottom which I round more to the O shape. Noticed at the top right that a bit of the O showed so I added a snowflake. Here's a view of the ornament back:

The shaker bits inside are thin glitter. I specifically chose the letter O since I wanted to cover it up. On some of the other monogram ornaments you could leave the letter showing and just add to it - might try that next!

I'm happy to celebrate Christmas with part of my family & hope you're having a wonderful day with yours! Today I'm just sharing a few holiday decorations, starting with my living room tree trio:

My guest room tree got a new topper/skirt by Hallmark to match my Peanuts mini ornaments!

I also finished my wreath and designer mini trees featuring mini ornaments & my 12 Days of Christmas porcelain ornaments on a gold wire tree. The mini tree in my bedroom got an angel topper but no ornaments - just ran out of time!

Merry Christmas Wishes!!

Sending Merry Christmas wishes to those celebrating! I'm enjoying time with family so sorry if I've been offline a lot. We miss my mom (who passed in April) but she's in a better place after all her health struggles. 

I went all out with my decorating this year since I had plenty of time at home. Note - I'm not sharing any cards today so skip the rest of this post if you don't care to see my holiday decorations. I won't be offended :) First up my living room trees - yes, trees plural.

I donated my big 7.5' full tree since it was simply too heavy for me to set up. I brought the pencil tree upstairs this year but it look so lonely, I bought two slightly shorter slim trees to frame it! The tree at left contains my collection of Hallmark Barbie ornaments with others to fill it. They really are straight vertical even though the perspective is a bit off in the photo. Next, a series of mini trees (my room, upstairs guest room, family room, various Hallmark designer trees):

A Mini Christmas Tree

Hey all - I'm taking a break from cards and sharing a 3D project I made using Concord & 9th's Take a Bough Encore die set. Here's my mini Christmas tree:

In these days of pandemic, I look for fun things to do online. Concord & 9th offered a class on their mini Christmas trees last night and I signed up. Rec'd my kit in plenty of time and had die cut everything I needed for the largest (finished height about 8.75") of three trees using their Clover cardstock. The other two trees use Evergreen and Sea Glass cardstock - both gorgeous colors. I've only started die cutting the elements for those two. The class lasted 90 minutes, taught by Greg Cottrell with guests Erica AB & Jeff Lindberg. I have several fab Concord & 9th items in my stash but this was my first experience with these Concord and 9th VIPs - very enjoyable! Didn't win any prizes though, oh well.... An extra thing I did for my tree was to use the garland die to diecut an extra garland in white that I inlaid into my red negative and popped onto a green circle diecut to create a little tree skirt. I also added some Jolee lights and a few ornaments I made gluing glitter dots together. The class was done on YouTube live and carried a fee. They have other videos showing how to construct the trees, though - very easy to do (see one here if desired).

I'm adding this to Darnell's October NBUS challenge since my tree & accessory dies are new. There's also a 3D challenge out there that I spotted but couldn't find again to link up. If anyone knows where it is, can you let me know? Thanks! And thanks for stopping!!
