Sign Gnome with Snowflakes

Hey friends - today's your final chance to enter the October Anything Goes Challenge at Die Cut Divas. I'm sharing the card below for the final day of inspiration with the rest of the end-of-month Diva team. Scrapflower Estudio is this month's sponsor.

Supplies: Paper - BoBunny Winter Getaway 6x6;
Paper Studio Holiday, Neenah white
Digi - Scrapflower Estudio Sign Nordic Gnome
Dies - Spellbinders Snowflake Splendor
Other - Copic Markers

I used the same Sign Nordic Gnome image, printed on a smaller scale, earlier in the month (go HERE if you missed it). I love the convenience of resizing digi image and enjoyed changing up my coloring for a deeper grey beard. Isn't he just the cutest? Also added some snowflakes to the modify the look.

Which version do you like better?

And here's a bonus card:

Supplies: Paper - Basic Grey Juniper Berry;
Neenah white; Paper Studio colors
Digi - Scrapflower Estudio Nordic Gnome Girl
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Cozy Cottage Birdhouse &
Other - Copic Markers; Pink and Main enamel hearts;

I had fun with an AJVD add-on die set that turns a birdhouse into a gingerbread house - so cute!! Simply colored and fussy cut my gnome girl to add into the scene.

Hope to see you in the Die Cut Diva Anything Goes Challenge gallery!!
You don't need to use sponsor products - just be sure to use a die cut &/or embossing folder.
You have until 9pm Pacific time today to upload your creation.

Thanks for stopping & have crafty day!

For a Loved One!

Hey everyone - hope you had a lovely weekend! I'm popping in with a quick card for the current Christmas Kickstart challenge. For challenge 55 we're to make a Christmas card for a loved one. I chose to make a card for my kitty loving brother and sister-in-law.

Supplies: Paper - Neenah white; Paper Studio A2 card;
Pink & Main Jolly; Penny Black Holiday Trimmings
Stamps - Concord & 9th Christmas Cheer Turnabout;
Hero Arts I Love My Cat &
Create Your Own Snowman (retired)
Lawn Fawn Season's Tweetings (Stamptember 2020)
Dies - My Favorite Things Blueprints (retired);
A Jillian Vance Design Mini Slimline Backdrop Set
Other - SSS sentiment strips; foam tape; Copics

I'm finally getting a chance to play with a new Concord & 9th turnabout stamp I received earlier this month. Won't show my first attempt from earlier today - I'd cut my paper slightly too big & my turnabout went wonky!! Oh well, I saved it in case I can use bits and pieces... I cut a strip to add to a piece of Penny Black paper I'd cut with a pierced rectangle. Adhered to an A2 card. Added a plaid rectangle & the kitty. I'd stamped an extra while making my final Twofer Challenge card back in August. I used a Simon sentiment strip for the Merry Christmas and then some mini sentiments from a Lawn Fawn Stamptember set from last year. Done!

I also add my card to Darnell's October NBUS Challenge since my turnabout is new. Thanks to all hosts for fun challenges and to you for stopping! Happy crafting!!

Nordic Gnome with a Sign

Hey crafty friends - I'm sharing the card below today for some inspiration at Die Cut Divas. We're doing Anything Goes again this month, this time with our new sponsor Scrapflower Estudio. You don't need to use sponsor products - just be sure to have a die cut or use an embossing folder.

Supplies: Paper - Ms Sparkle A2 card,
My Mind's Eye Unforgetable 6x6;  Paper Studio solids
Digi - Scrapflower Estudio Sign Nordic Gnome
Momenta Word Fetti (retired)
Other - Copic Markers

Mr Gnome says hello from his forest of die cut mushrooms and ferns. I found this cute little gnome digi in the Christmas section of Scrapflower Estudio. I colored the poinsettias to look like succulents. The digi file comes with a plain sign or one with a Merry Christmas message - perfect! Arlene printed both versions for me. Thanks Arlene!! I colored the plain one first & added a diecut hello.

And here's a bonus card using the Merry Christmas sign. I enjoyed coloring it for a Christmas card.

Additional Supplies: Paper - BoBunny Winter Getaway 6x6
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Antique Sled and Skis Set

I hope you'll play in our Die Cut Diva Anything Goes Challenge for October.
You have until 9pm Pacific time on October 31st to upload your creation.

Thanks for stopping & have crafty day!

Double Embossing!

Hey there - gloomy day today but perfect for hitting the craft studio! I'm sharing a card I made this morning for the current Let's Squash It! challenge to double emboss. I chose the category of embossing with two different folders. Here's my card:

Supplies: Paper - Neenah white; Paper Studio A2 card & green;
Black by unk; Tim Holtz Kraft Metallic Jewels
Embossing folders - Stampin' Up Subtle (retired);
Dies - My Favorite Things Christmas String Lights;
Pierced Rectangle Frames (retired)

Thanks to Betty (created by bjk) for the 3D embossed TH poinsettia panels - she sent me some black and some white ones. Gorgeous!! I figured a 3D one would withstand being embossed a second time & went with the SU Subtle folder which gave it a lovely texture. Thought a frame would be fun, then ran across a light string I made recently using a new die. Decided to string it across the frame. Added a sentiment strip - done! Here's a close up of the texture in the background which is hard to see in main photo (looks like I have some white specks to brush off...):

Quick funny story....I'm constantly losing things and have been missing a little label die for over a year. When I went to put away the MFT frame, the set fell on the floor and lo & behold the little label popped off the back of the magnet sheet. Yay!!! I hate losing things and that label was from a retired Hero Arts Stamp & Cut set which I love. I always thank my guardian angel when things like this happen, especially after I was cussing out the set that fell on the floor!!

I'll also add this to Darnell's NBUS Challenge (my light string is new) and to Watercooler Wednesday All About Occasions. Thanks to all for the fun challenges!!

Thanks for stopping and have a crafty day!!

Winter Village Gray and Red

Happy weekend!! I'm glad to get some time in the craft studio this morning! Today I'm sharing a card for Marcia's October challenge at CAS Christmas - use gray and red - so fun!!

Supplies: Paper - Neenah
Stamps - all by Taylored Expressions:
On Dasher, On Dancer
Inks - Memento Rhubarb Stalk & London Fog

The village stamp was a Taylored Expressions gift with purchase for October so I doubt the link I listed will work beyond this month. I've seen TE offer some of the previous year's gifts, though, so the village might come back in 2022. The Santa sleigh stamp was a gift from TE too - not sure if it was part of a set or a former stand alone stamp. I named it On Dasher, On Dancer because TE currently offers a die in this design.

Before stamping the village I masked off the bottom since the silhouette has more ground than I wanted to ink. I also used a negative circle mask to sponge a soft gray moon. My mask slipped a bit but I just went with it. Very quick and easy one layer - perfect for mass production! One could add stars etc but I kept it simple.

In case you're wondering about the paper Christmas tree, I created it last year in an online Concord and 9th class - if you missed my post about it, go HERE.

That's it for today friends! I'm also adding my card to Darnell's October NBUS Challenge since my village and sleigh are new. And to Watercolor Wednesday where Helen hosts All About Occasions. Thanks to all for the fun challenges and to you for visiting!

Happy crafting!!

Celebrate - It's My Party!!

Hey crafty friends - I'm delighted to be the Guest Designer at Day of the Month Card Club! We're celebrating "It's My Party" Day this month

Supplies: Paper - Neenah white;
Paper Studio black and glitter;
Momenta watercolor print
Dec 2016 MMH kit (sold out)
Stamps - Hero Arts Sparkle Clear - Party (retired) &
Dec 2016 MMH kit
Other - Paper Studio Bright Abstract vinyl; Copic Markers;
3M foam tape, Hero Arts flower gem & clear lacquer

The actual celebration lands on October 11th and you can check out Leslie Gore singing the famous song on the Ed Sullivan Show (remember it?) HERE. You can see the Day of the Month Card Club August challenge winners post featuring my card HERE

For this month's theme, I had some fun with a Picket Fence Slimline set - love, love, love this one!! I started by adhering a strip of adhesive backed vinyl to white cardstock. Then I die cut it with the scalloped slimline rectangle, then cut a second one in white for the back. Scored the back piece and glued to front for a card base.

Next I die cut the celebrate four times - pink glitter, black and two white. Layered the white for dimension, then glued the black, then white to the pink for shadow & depth. I glued the word to a narrow textured blue rectangle since the vinyl is so busy. Then I stamped the two circles and die cut both plus a larger pink circle. The stamp set I used came out in 2008, not long after I began making cards! The only alteration - the bigger circle sentiment says "It's a Party"; I did a little surgery and cut out the a, stamped it and then stamped "my" from a "Be my Valentine" sentiment. Yup - did a little surgery there too. All the stamps fit back together perfectly for stamping the original sentiments. I used Copics to add some blue to one circle and popped the smaller circle with foam tape. The little flower gems came with the stamp set and I hadn't used a one until now.

Things looked a little bare so I decided to add some party stuff. First thing that came to mind was a fun My Monthly Hero kit from - yikes - nearly 5 years ago. Love this one and use it often. I die cut the sunburst from the same pink glitter cardstock, plus a couple of the little stars. Then I stamped and die cut a party mask from the kit's stamp set. If you want to see more cards I made with the little masks, go HERE. If you'd like to see the vinyl embossed, go HERE.

Hope to see you in the challenge gallery which remains open until the end of the month! Thanks to Gundi, Rosi & Izzy for inviting me to guest design this month!!

Thanks for stopping & have a crafty day!!

Happy World Card Making Day!

Happy WCMD everyone!! I'm visiting my parents today and brought some vintage cards from the 1950s to upcycle with my mom. Not sure of the brand since the box top was missing but they were so pretty and in great condition! I can't remember if I got them from my maternal grandmother or one of her sisters but one of them bought them in the '50s and never used them! I die cut a bunch of them using the Stitched Dot Rectangle Backdrop Set by A Jillian Vance Design. We embellished with some gems from JoAnn's and some sentiment strips from Simon Says Stamp.

First - here's  my mom's set:

Next - a few I made. I'm not sharing them all but I made 3 more for a total of 10 that Mom & Dad can mail out this holiday season.

Here's Mom working diligently with glue. She needed some help with the small bits like gems she wanted to add.

And here's a selfie of Mom & I - barely got the cards in there, oh well...

I enjoyed sharing my card making with Mom! Hope you had a wonderful WCMD too!! If you're looking for my September Card Chain reveal post, go HERE. Thanks for stopping!!

September 2021 Card Chain Revealed!

Hi crafty friends - it's time to reveal the cards that went round the world for the September 2021 Card Chain Challenge! My card went to Marianne (Marianne's cards 'n stuff) in Greece which I learned at the last minute since I'd signed up in the first slot. That person always sends to the final person to sign up. I heard from Marianne that she received the card last week and loved the dimensional flowers - yay!! You can see the entire chain HERE.

Supplies: Paper - Sunny Studio Flirty Flowers 6x6;
Paper Studio pink; Momenta watercolor print;
Neenah white; Ms Sparkle green
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Stitched Dot Rectangle Backdrop Set
Sunny Studio Botanical Backdrop
My Favorite Things Blueprints 27 & 8 (retired)
Stamps - Hero Arts Everyday Sayings
Other - Hero Arts Fresh Lawn ink & Paper Studio gems

I went with the colors and the sketch, as well as the themes of flowers & friendship.

My patterned paper looks a bit blue in the photo but it matches the periwinkle much better in real life! The peony card base reads a bit pale too, oh well - we can be liberal with the shades! For my take on the sketch I put the patterned paper behind the die cut to fill the long window in the diecut with the trio of windows on the bottom half.

I was excited to get this beauty from Pia (Pias Papir og Perler) in Norway who just joined the Card Chain - yay! I just love the silvery medallion filled with paper pieced flowers - so gorgeous, my photo doesn't do it justice. Pia also included some die cuts which I'll enjoy using - thanks again, Pia! I claim some Norwegian heritage on my paternal side of the family so it was fun to correspond with Pia. I mean, our pro football team is the Vikings - what does that tell you...

You have until October 6th to sign up HERE if you'd care to join the October chain - we'd love to see you! Thanks for stopping & happy World Card Making Day!!
