Shaking it Up with Hero Arts!

Hey friends - I'm posting at Die Cut Divas today with card one below. A bonus card follows only here.

Supplies: Paper - Neenah Solar White;
Park Lane A2 card; scrap of purple; acetate
Stamps w/Dies - Hero Arts Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL
Dies - Hero Arts Bee Florals Window
Stencils - Hero Arts Color Layering Bee Florals
Inks - Hero Arts Grape Slush, Amethyst, Key Lime, Moss,
Cup O'Joe & Pitch Black;
Memento Dandelion & Tangelo;
Tumbled Glass & Spiced Marmalade Distress
Other - Shaker mix from a retired Hero Arts MMH kit;
Hero Arts Sparkle Clear Lacquer; iCraft foam

We're doing shaker cards for our February Die Cut Divas Challenge. Our wonderful sponsor is Hero Arts, an inspiration to the crafting community! They're donating a $25 credit to their online store for our randomly drawn challenge winner - thanks Hero Arts!!

I die cut the bee window into an A2 panel of Neenah white, then stenciled the image with the coordinating 5 piece stencil set. I inked the corners with Tumbled Glass DI. Next, I backed the panel with acetate then applied 3mm foam around the edges. Filled it with a shaker mix from an old HA kit. Adhered an A2 card. Added sparkle lacquer to the bee wings. Stamped and die cut a sentiment strip & adhered it to the card.

For a bonus, I used a fave coverplate die:

Supplies: Paper - My Favorite Things red; scrap of white;
Paper Studio Pink; Hero Arts black
Dies - Hero Arts Window on Love Confetti
Stamps w/Dies - Hero Arts Message Strips Stamp & Cut XL
Other - Hobby Lobby Valentine Crafts clay chips;

I've tried full front A2 shaker panels before - they work really well when you use a coverplate with a lot of open area. I found a fun shaker mix in the Valentine section at Hobby Lobby - little clay hearts, envelopes and sprinkles. Wrapped the filled shaker panel around a pink A2 panel to form a pouch. Then  I die cut the heart confetti panel and adhered atop the shaker pouch, then glued to an A2 card. Next I stamped/die cut another sentiment from the Message Strip stamp & cut set. I added a couple of the clay hearts to finish the card.

I'm sending my bee florals window card to the February Stay Crafty with a Blog Named Hero where they're doing floral projects.

** Based on Trina's (Phamtastic Design) reminder, I will add my bonus card to the current Sisterhood of Crafters Challenge where they want red or pink. Also to the February Colorful Options Challenge where they have a lovely mood board with loads of red, pink & hearts!

We look forward to seeing your shaker card (including a die cut &/or embossing folder) in our February Diva gallery! Thanks for visiting!!

Thanks for visiting & have a crafty day!

Window to a shaker!

Welcome everyone - hope you're having a lovely day!!

I'm the featured designer at Die Cut Divas today. We're showcasing Poppystamps products - love them and I have a fair few! I chose the new Fern and Daisy Pop-up Easel set on a recent online shopping spree. I adore Poppystamps pop-up easel die sets and couldn't resist this one. Rather than make a pop-up card, though, I made a shaker!

Supplies: Paper - Ms Sparkle A2 card; Neenah white;
Paper Studio orange and glitter; Lawn Fawn plaid;
vellum & acetate
and
Spectacular Birthday (sadly retired)
Other - Darice sequins; Martha Stewart glitter; Honey Bee gems

I used the frame and leafy layer to cut white panels, die cut an oval window through both and adhered them together. I backed the panel with acetate, added foam tape for a channel & filled with glitter & sequins. I popped it onto a panel of patterned paper that Poppystamps gifted to me with my order - thanks!! Next I cut the sentiment (glitter paper with a vellum mat) and adhered it over the window. Then I cut a bunch of butterflies using more dies from the set - this set is loaded with great pieces!! Adhered to the card with some gems - done!

Thanks for visiting and I hope you'll join us at Die Cut Divas with your window card - go HERE to link to the gallery by April 30th at 9pm Pacific time.

November Card Chain Reveal

Wow - it's December 2nd already and time to reveal the cards that went round the world for the Card Chain Challenge! Twenty seven people played along and you can see the entire chain HERE. You only need to send one card and you receive one from the person behind you in the chain. I sent this card to Gail (Crafty Nomad) in Norway:

Supplies: Paper - Ms Sparkle & Co blush A2 card;
Hero Arts blue; Anchor Paper silver;
and a scrap of white
Stamps - Simon Say Stamp Falling Stars (retired);
Hero Arts All Occasion Messages (retired)
Dies - Hero Arts Stylish Stars (retired);
My Favorite Things Blueprints 13 & 18 (retired)
Other - sequins and star confetti; star gems;
Memento Summer Sky ink; acetate

I used the color scheme and a modified version of the sketch. Also used the themes of stars and friendship, plus the technique of Aperture.

Thanks to Nathalie who sent me the sequin mix with her October Card Chain Challenge card! I added some Martha Stewart star confetti to it for my shaker.  Despite adding anti static powder to the inside, some of the star confetti preferred to stick to the acetate. Enough of it moved with the sequins for an effective shaker, I hope!! The star gems came from my friend Heather (Stamping and Stitching) but I didn't save the packaging for the manufacturer...

My friend and sister Die Cut Diva Dawn (Dawn's World) sent this beauty all the way from New Zealand; I love the flower atop the striped background:

Thanks for stopping by and, if you're interested in participating, you can sign up HERE by December 6th for a special December exchange. Normally we would have a break in December for the holiday season but we felt some extra cheer and happy mail was needed this year!! Happy crafting!!

Shaker cards!

Finally - I made my first two shaker cards! Over the years I've purchased a bunch of shaker elements - domed acrylic pieces, beads, etc. Last year I even bought a Fuse tool and had yet to use it! Then I received my January 2016 My Monthly Hero kit from Hero Arts. I thought it would be fun to make a heart shaped packet to put behind the heart die from the kit. Here's card #1:

be my valentine

I stamped a top fold card (made with Hero Arts punch layering paper) with Simon Says Stamp heart background. I die cut the heart window with pop-up scallops using 2 dies from the MMH kit (sold out). The shaker filler was from the kit too and the valentine die was from a separate add-on. This card went to my friend Heather Maria and her family; she let me know she received it on Tuesday.

While card #1 was still in the mail, we had a Scramble with Betty on the Hero Arts Flickr group. I loved her theme with an inspiration photo and decided to try shaker card #2. This time I used the acrylic panel provided in the MMH kit behind the heart opening. After diecutting the top panel, I positioned it over the grey piece to set where my XOXO would go. Used my MISTI tool for stamping - LOVE!! Then I white embossed it, put the shaker filler over it, lined up foam tape around the back of the heart and adhered over the grey. Love the pink paper by Authentique and the grey is by Doodlebug - matched the subtle grey in the Authentique paper perfectly!

XOXO

I sent this card to my parents and I was in a bit of a hurry to get it in the mail. I didn't write a single word on the inside or sign it! Guess that means my mom can use it for someone else - LOL!

Hope you're having a crafty week and thanks for stopping by!
