More Holiday Cards with Kat Scrappiness!

Last day of November - yikes! You only have until 9pm PST today to enter our Die Cut Divas All About the Holidays Challenge - hope you can join in! I'm part of the end-of-month Diva team providing some last minute inspiration.

Maybe you're ahead of the game and will share a Valentine or an Easter card but I have a Christmas card using a new-to-me frame die by our wonderful November sponsor Kat Scrappiness (KS).

Supplies: Paper - Park Lane gold card; Recollections pastel glitter cardstock;
scrap of marbled vellum & ivory cardstock;
Tim Holtz Big Tidings; Birch Press Design Felicity Snowflakes
Other - foam tape; Paper Studio gold stud stickers;
Gold Hero Wax

Our random winner drawn from eligible November entries will receive a
KS prize package worth $100!  (US address only - sorry)

I die cut the KS snowflake frame from a pale pink glitter cardstock, then die cut the interior with a rectangle for an open center. Adhered the frame to a gold A2 card. Next I diecut the TH Noel - outline was cut from vellum and ivory (which I layered) & the word was cut from LF Speckles. I die cut the word twice and trimmed off the N and E, adding gold Hero wax to the edges. Once dry, I layered these letters onto the base word. Wanted the definition on just those two but wondered if I should've added gold to the other letters - oh well.... Next I die cut 3 mini snowflakes and added them to the O's center. Adhered the NOEL to the center of the frame using foam tape, then popped some gold dots to the center of each snowflake. The marbled vellum looks a bit odd in the photo but it's not as bad in real life...

I was able to pick up the TH Big Tidings set at my favorite local store during their Black Friday sale - woo hoo! I had tried to resist but my friend Lin (Sending Hugs) wore me down by sharing all sorts of beautiful creations using this set - see them HERE.

I'm adding this card to Darnell's November NBUS Challenge since my frame and word dies are new. I'll also share at the November Christmas Kickstart Challenge since I used non-traditional colors.

For my bonus, I made another Christmas card using the adorable KS Joy die. I substituted a snowflake for the O this time. Such a simple card, with just a few die cut elements - it would be easy for last minute cards.

Supplies: Paper - Spellbinders A2 card;
Paper Studio Bo-Ho-Ho & Holiday;
Hero Arts white glitter cardstock;
scrap of parchment
Birch Press Design Felicity Snowflakes
Other - foam tape

That's it for today. Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you in the November Diva gallery! Just be sure to link up by 9pm PST today & use a die cut or embossing folder in your design! No need to use Kat Scrappiness products but, if you have some, we'd love to see them.

Thanksgiving Birthday

Hey everyone - welcome! I'm sharing a birthday card with a Thanksgiving vibe today. A dear friend from my first job out of college was born on Thanksgiving. Of course, with the celebration date varying, it doesn't always fall on Thanksgiving. I still give Dixie's card a fall harvest theme wherever her bday lands:

Supplies: Paper - Hero Arts Antique Ivory A2 card;
Momenta Gemstones 8x8 pad;
various scraps for leaves, acorns & pumpkin
Dies - My Favorite Things Letterboard, Frame Builder
Stamps - Hero Arts Happy Thanksgiving (c2008 retired)
Other - HA Orange Two-tone spray; Copic markers, foam tape

I was excited to pick up the new MFT Letterboard set from their Sept 2023 release. Love, love, love it!! Thought it would make a perfect personalized card for a bday. Since those dies are newly used today, I'll add my card to Darnell's November NBUS Challenge.

Fun card to make - just die cut pieces and assemble. Also stamped, colored & fussy cut the HA pumpkin. The frame top layer was cut from the same paper as the letterboard but I stacked it with 3 cut from heavyweight kraft cardstock. So....my frame mitering isn't perfect but, hey, it's handmade! And aren't those little letters just the cutest?!

Thanks for visiting and I wish all my US friends celebrating tomorrow "Happy Thanksgiving"! We'll be too full of turkey and pumpkin pie to craft but happy crafting to the rest of you!!

Cards for a couple of holidays

Hi all - it's my turn to post at Die Cut Divas today! This month we're celebrating holidays - that would be ANY holiday! For full challenge details, go HERE.

Of course, I'm still trying to get this year's Christmas cards done so here's one featuring new-to-me dies by our wonderful November sponsor Kat Scrappiness (KS). They have donated a fabulous prize package to be awarded to our random winner from eligible (US address only - sorry) November entries.

Supplies: Paper - Pink & Main Jolly;
Paper Studio Holiday; vellum;
Tim Holtz Kraft Metallic
Other - Hero Arts Sparkle Lacquer; BG70 Copic

I covered an A2 card with a tree patterned paper from Pink & Main's Jolly 6x6 pad. Added a reverse scallop frame, then the layered tree, star and sentiment. Colored the snow edges with a Copic and added sparkle lacquer - done! Kat Scrappiness dies cut like butter and are a joy to work with! I'll probably make a few more of this design since it came together so quickly. The tree die set also contains a bunch of little bauble dies but I chose to leave them off this time.

For my bonus, I made my final Thanksgiving card for this year. I used a long time fave KS mini slim diamond wire frame.

Supplies: Paper - Tim Holtz Classic Cardstock
Doodlebug Designs Swiss Dot Rainbow Petite Prints;
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
Stamps - Hero Arts Thankful (c2010 retired) &
Thankful for You (c2012 retired)
Other - Copic Markers

I created a mini slim top fold card from TH cardstock, then added a die cut diamond wire frame (cut from another shade of TH cardstock) that I'd backed with dotted paper. Stamped four of the Thankful images on Neenah white, colored with Copics and fussy cut. Stamped the sentiment on a scrap of orange & fussy cut. Arranged the elements on the card and adhered with glue and foam tape - done!

That's it for today. Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you in the November Diva gallery by 9p PST on 11/30/23; just remember to use a die cut or embossing folder in your design - use of Kat Scrappiness isn't required.

Thanksgiving swag

Hi everyone - hope you had a great weekend! I started my Monday with some card making - still working on Thanksgiving cards! Thought I'd fit another one in at Just Us Girls Challenge #705 where they're doing a word prompt of Thanks or Thanksgiving.

Supplies: Paper - Paper Studio A2 card;
foiled kraft paper from Target years ago; Neenah white
various scraps of green, orange, red & brown
Dies - Poppy Stamps Fanciful Fall Leaves;
Stamps with Dies - Hero Arts Holiday Season Messages Bundle
and Thankful (c2010 retired)
Other - foam tape; Copic Markers

I had die cut a bunch of leaves for yesterday's card and had a leftover oval from cutting a brown frame for dimension. Decided to use the oval atop a stitched rectangle of foiled leaves and create a swag below the sentiment, this time using a pumpkin.

And here's a twofer - a portrait orientation of yesterday's card:

Supplies: Paper - Neenah White; Tim Holtz cardstock;
Paper Studio A2 card
various scraps of green, orange, red & brown
Dies - Poppy Stamps Harvest Oval Frame &
Stamps with Dies - Hero Arts Autumn Bounty Stamp & Cut
(retired but I saw one left HERE at Frantic Stamper)
Other - Altenew enamel dots; foam tape; Copic Markers;
Hero Arts sprays - orange & red

This one was a bit simplier since I started with a darker cardstock and just used two sprays. I also gave the frame no dimension; yesterday's card was stacked with 3 diecuts. Left this nice and flat for mailing.

Thanks for stopping by & have a crafty day!

Leafy Thanksgiving

Happy Sunday - hope you're enjoying the weekend! I'm way behind on making Thanksgiving cards (hadn't started yet). Then Just Us Girls announced Challenge #705 yesterday with a word prompt of Thanks or Thanksgiving. Yay - inspiration to get started & I came up with a card using a new-to-me Poppystamps frame. It's a fall 2022 release that I recently ordered at a deep discount from Poppystamps along with some new Christmas items. Here's my card:

Supplies: Paper - Hero Arts Antique Ivory;
various scraps of green, orange, red & brown
Dies - Poppy Stamps Harvest Oval Frame &
Stamps with Dies - Hero Arts Autumn Bounty Stamp & Cut
(retired but I saw one left HERE at Frantic Stamper)
Other - Park Lane gems; foam tape; Copic Markers;
Hero Arts sprays - orange, red & yellow

I die cut the frame in ivory then spritzed it with 3 different sprays. After drying it with a heat tool, I sponged Gathered Twigs DOI around the edges & around the center oval (which cuts with the frame) & the card base. Die cut leaves and acorns from scraps; stamped, die cut & colored corn. Stamped Thanksgiving on the oval and added a die cut happy. Arranged everything and adhered with glue or foam tape. A few gold gems - done!

I'll also add this card to Darnell's November NBUS Challenge since my frame (and leaves) got first play today.

Thanks for visiting & have a crafty day.

Java Merry Christmas

Hey all - I'm skating in with an entry to the 2023 Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop which ends today! Several cardmaking friends (including Julia with THIS CARD & others) inspired me to make the effort this afternoon. Here's my card - not that excited about it but I got one done...

Supplies: Paper - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White;
Sunny Studio Joyful Holiday
Stamps with Dies - Pink and Main Christmas Mugs (retired)
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Stitched Dot Rectangle Backdrop Set
Other - Copic Markers; Hero Arts clear and sparkle lacquer

Simple card - stamp, cut and color cups; stamp a sentiment strip. The sentiment stamp comes with the mug set. Cover an A2 card with dot paper and add a stitched rectangle. Assemble and done.

My card also works at the current Day of the Month Card Club where they're celebrating National Candy Day! The cups to the left sport toppings of peppermints and a candy cane - yum!

Thanks Amy for another fun hop and to Gundi, Rosi & Izzy for a yummy challenge! Finally, thanks to you for stopping by!

Happy crafting, coffee drinking & candy eating!!

Spacy Christmas

Hey everyone - it's been a while! Today I made a card for the November Christmas Kickstart Challenge. Jo and Elves from The Sisterhood of Snarky Stampers are doing an unusual Christmas theme using a meme with my favorite Star Trek character, Mr. Spock. My sisters love to call me Spock when I get too logical - LOL. I do adore that series and its many spin-offs so I created a Christmas decorating session in space. Here's my take on "It's Christmas, Jim, but not as we know it!"

Supplies: Paper - Neenah Classic Crest Solar White;
Hero Arts Pitch Black
Stamps - Hero Arts Sparkle Borders (c2015, retired);
Holly Berries Stamp & Cut XL (parts of sentiment)
Stamps with dies - Dec2022 My Monthly Hero Kit (sold out)
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Stitched Dot Rectangle Backdrop Set
Other - Hero Arts clear & sparkle lacquer and
Paper Studio star gems; Copic Markers; Black Soot DI

Here's a photo from the Hero Arts site of the 12/2022 MMH kit contents - such a fun one & a great value! I have made a few other cards with this kit (see them HERE and HERE if you're interested) but never a Christmas card! It was fun!!

I started with a panel of Neenah white and sprayed it with the 2-tone metallic spray. Then I ink blended Black Soot over any white left showing - looks like a galaxy, doesn't it?! Die cut with a stitched rectangle and added to an A2 card. Stamped and diecut the ladder & girl images, then colored with Copics. Added sparkle lacquer to the clouds and star.

Stamped and fussy cut the string of lights, then colored with Copics and added clear lacquer. Note, the string of lights stamp is a straight line but, being a flexible clear stamp, I curved it on the MISTI before stamping. Stamped and white embossed a mix of sentiment pieces, including one from the kit. Assembled all the elements and added some star gems - done!

I hope you enjoyed my spacy Christmas card! Perfect for my brother who has the entire Hallmark ornament series which plays the Star Trek "Mirror, Mirror" episode dialogue (a fave episode for both of us). If you love Star Trek, what is your favorite episode (original or any spin-off). I would be hard pressed to pick a single favorite but "Yesterday's Enterprise" (from TNG) ranks high on my list.

Thanks to Jo and Elves for a fun challenge & to you for visiting!! Have a crafty evening!!

October 2023 Card Chain Reveal!

Yikes - November already! Time to finalize those Christmas cards - but first, we're revealing cards that went 'round the world for the October Card Chain Challenge! Thirty-four people participated and you can see the full reveal HERE. My card went to Dagmara [(P)otworki] in Poland; she joined us starting in July & we're delighted to have her in the group!

Supplies: Paper - Hero Arts Granite & Arctic;
Authentique & BoBunny (both pads retired)
Neenah Classic Crest Solar White
Stamps - Hero Arts From the Vault Home Scene (sentiment)
Stamps with Dies - Hero Arts Northern Lights Polar Bears Bundle;
My Favorite Things Playful Penguins (dies HERE)
Dies - A Jillian Vance Design Stitched Dot Rectangle Backdrop;
Other - Copic Markers (a few Ws, R20, & B0000);
Memento Tuxedo Black ink

We had the following options for creating our cards:

Color Palette Option

Sketch Option

Theme Options: Bears / Balloons / Friendship

Product / Technique Options: Something Fluffy / Spotlight Stamping

I used the colors, sketch, & theme of bears, plus friendship on the inside. Just simple stamping & die cutting with some Copic shading but such a fun card to put together! I used a new Hero Arts set that will be part of the upcoming Hero Arts Holiday Stamp-Along. I had it in my mind to have the polar bears sitting on an ice floe - I just knew I had such a stamp somewhere in the stash. Didn't search long before I found one in the MFT box - yay!! Besides the friendship message on the inside of the card, I also stamped some of the Northern Lights from the polar bear set.

I received this gorgeous card from Viv (Viv's Visuals) in the UK. I just love the delicate lace & the spotlight on the stack of cups - stunning!!  Thanks Viv & for the beautiful cup die cuts & lace too!!

Interested in joining the Card Chain? You simply make and send one card, then receive one card - easy! Go HERE for details to sign up for the November Card Chain by 11/6/23.

Thanks for stopping & happy crafting!!
