August 1st brought a new contest at Hero Arts. I love the sketches this month so got to work on Wednesday with a new stamp I bought after seeing Shari's fun Pom Pom Flower with button embellishment - here. Here's my card (a 6" square):
I stamped the flower on watercolor paper and colored with Distress Markers. The highlights were achieved with the Picket Fence marker which is more opaque. Decided the watercolor paper was too plain so I added the envelope liner pattern to frame the flower, then inked the edges. When I photographed, the neon cast a shadow so it looks a bit greyish (not in real life). Die cut into a big zig-zag circle and added a yellow mat.
I got to playing this morning with a new Hero Arts cling background I bought last week - BG Square Pattern. I was stamping it in various colors on some HA eggshell layering paper and my neon pink one had some blobby spots. Decided I could use the good parts so started out punching a square out of it. Then I started cutting out smaller pieces and arraying them on the table - next thing you know, I had a snowflake going! CAS is not my usual style but I decided to keep the background plain and feature the snowflake.
Hope you had a crafty weekend! Thanks for stopping...

Gorgeous card, Linda! Love the zigzag circles background!
Hi Linda! I love that first card! So full of wonderful colors and the vellum is such a great touch, laying over that fun, striped paper! I just got that Square Pattern stamp too - love what you did with it - lots of work cutting but so very clever!
Gorgeous cards Linda. The sunshine on your first card is lovely behind the flower. And the graphic look of your second card is just wonderful
You've been busy with such great creations! All the many elements of the first card are so great - all work so well together! I especially love the vellum, which causes me such trouble. Love how this great flower just pops off of your card. The second card is so graphic and bright - reminds me of the 1960's. A fun weekend you had!
What bright and sunny card Linda!
Your first card is so striking Linda! Love how you colored the flower and how it looks against the neon "sun"!!! And don't get me started on how clever the snowflake is!! You're so darn talented!!
Lovely and bright bold cards! Thanks for dropping by my blog!
Great graphic card, Linda! Love how you play with all the squares to resemble the falling snow!
