By the Numbers - My Scramble today

Hi everyone - hope you're having a great weekend! We had a gloomy start to the day but it got into the 70's F and cleared up beautifully! But again, I was inside most of the day and missed most of the sunshine!

This morning I hosted a Scramble over on the Hero Arts Flickr group. My theme "By the Numbers" and I asked the players to use a number or numbers on a card for any occasion. Lacking any numbers, I also let the players use a design of three (3 squares, 3 flowers, etc.) if they had absolutely no numbers around.

I made three inspiration cards - two of them over a month ago (I really wanted to be ready) and the third just this week with a new Hero Arts die. Here are my cards:

Happy 80th Mary

This was a birthday card for a friend we call the Queen Mum (hence the crown). I cut the numbers on the Silhouette and stamped them with the Hero Arts cling stamp called Notebook Paper. I die cut the crown with a special Spellbinder's die I got at the final ScrapFest - they were giving them out for free at their booth, so fun! The sentiment is from a Hero Arts clear set called Circles.

Jr Birthday

This was a birthday card for my brother; the numbers were stamped on both the background (very subtle tone on tone) and also on the star die, using a large cling background from Hero Arts called Number Pattern. The happy die and the birthday stamp are from a Hero Arts Stamp & Cut set called Happy.

I stamped the same Number Pattern on this background and the die too, but then I did a stencil pattern over the background for a bit of additional interest. I used the Large Lotus Pattern stencil from Hero Arts with Picked Raspberry Distress Ink. The large butterfly is a new Fancy Die from Hero Arts called Swallowtail Butterfly. I cut a backing for it using a piece of a vellum envelope that you get stamps in from the post office. I colored the back of the vellum with Copic markers, then I traced the die and cut a white frame for the butterfly. The sentiment is from a new set called Color Layering Butterflies. I can't wait to try the color layering stamps in this set!! The two little butterflies are punched, the small white vellum one is EK Success and the middle pink one I got from my friend Heather - thanks again, Heather!!

We always have fun at the Scrambles, about every two weeks if you want to check one out sometime. I enjoyed being the host today and thank those who played along! You can see all the cards at the link I shared above. Thanks for stopping and have a great weekend!!

  1. What a great idea for a scramble, Linda, I'm so sorry I missed it! Your cards are great examples for your idea, and I'm sure they helped to jump-start every one's mojo!

  2. fabulous cards Linda. Wish I could have woken in time to play along... but way to early for me. There were some wonderful cards made by everyone.
