Traditional colors at Merry Monday

Hi all - a new week on Merry Monday brings the challenge to use traditional red and green colors on a Christmas card this week.  Deanne, this week's host, finds this a challenge because she likes the non-traditional.  I can agree to some extent because I like purples and blues on my Christmas cards, but green and red work fine for me too.  The design team created some real beauties this week so I hope you'll check them out!

I did some crafty clean-up or what I call "Misty-proofing" for the impending visit of my brother's cat Misty.  Well, Misty arrived last night but some crafts had to find their way back onto the kitchen counter where I like to create best.  She has shown little interest at this point, preferring to nap in the sun - LOL.  I encountered a pine branch stamp during my clean-up so it gave me an idea.

Here's my card:

I started with a piece of Neenah bright white cardstock, stamped a couple branches with Hero Arts Big Pine Bough (K5242), added a bit of Tim Holtz Industrious Stickers (Frames and Trims), then popped a stamped and die cut ornament from a Hero Arts set called Winter Sparkle (CL798).  Matted the piece with a bit of black card stock and adhered it to a top fold A2 card made of DCWV shimmer card stock (which doesn't show as very shimmery in the photo).  Inks used:  Hero Arts Neon Green, Tim Holtz Distress Inks:  Evergreen Bough, Pine Needles, Barn Door.  This would be an easy card to mass produce.

That's it for today - just a quick post to get my weekly Christmas card done.  For the record, though, I'm well ahead of schedule - I now have 25 cards done for my 2015 stash - woo, hoo!  Thanks for stopping!

  11. Nice card Linda. It would be nice to get a few cards done without the rush of the holidays. Good idea on the hanger! That gave me an idea on something similar I could use.
