Snowman for Merry Monday

Hi everyone - back with another Merry Monday card! Why so late? LOL - it's almost 5pm here and usually I have a card posted long before now. Friends wonder how I'm so fast to post usually. Well, I get up on Mondays and read the new challenge with my breakfast, then I start to create. Today, my retired quartet Chord Company got together for brunch at my former tenor's house. We enjoyed sitting around recalling our adventures as a quartet, eating yummy food and even celebrating my birthday a day early. I got home about 2pm and thought I'd try to create a card for MM before I rehearse my chorus music. This week Linda challenges us to USE a SNOWMAN (or woman/family etc). Two weeks ago I made a card with 5 stamped snowmen but no worries, I have plenty of snowman stuff in the stash. Decided to go with an embossed one. Here's the card:

Snowman
Supplies: Hero Arts Celadon folded card and Powder Layering Paper & Neenah Solar White
Stamp - Hero Arts Hand Drawn Snowflakes Bold Prints CG685 and Frosty Wishes CL800
Embossing folder - Tim Holtz Snow Flurries and Snowman Texture Fades 656944
Other - Copic Markers, Distress Inks, Target $ bin snowflakes, Michael's gems

Funny story about this embossing folder - back when Archiver's had brick and mortar stores and put on ScrapFest each year, Tim Holtz would come to teach a fabulous class. One year he gave us all the Sizzix Texture Fade set that included the snowman - it wasn't even out for sale yet. We were so excited to get it but typical me - it came home to find its way into a drawer for years. I was glad to let it see the light of day today!! When I embossed, I didn't get much contrast even after inking the snowman. So I shaded around him with some Copics and really liked the result. I also sprayed some Distress Stain and still found it lacking so I stamped a bit with the same background I used on the card base. Finally satisfied.

Well, I'd better head off to practice. Thanks for stopping and have a wonderful evening!!

Your project looks terrific. I'm very new to playing with stains and stamps, etc. I've found your blog and a few others that I'm sure will keep me inspired and learning.
